I recently received an m11x r2 with the i7 640 processor. It all seems ok so far with the exception of how hot it is getting and I am worried it is not normal. After only about an hour of play, core temp reported it running at 65C. Also the power adapter gets so hot it is hard to touch! I do not have it overclocked in the BIOS and I was sure not to have the vents blocked.
Is this normal or should I seek Dell support?
I am not sure what worries me more- the hot computer or the brick that feels like I can cook something on it!

I have the same thing with the power adapter. As far as your temps go, 65*c is fine for stressed temp.

i can get up to 60C during idle after a while and around 75 while gaming, so no you dont have problem with heat at all.
the processor is rated to reach 105C and Im fairly sure when it reaches this it will auto shutdown your m11x.

If you overclock the junk out of it and flip it upside down. You can cook dinner. True story.

Now I am wondering about this. My temps are about the same but when it reaches about 85C, it starts underclocking itself even though that tempurature is considered normal. Also it only started doing it this past month, before it got hot but never underclocked.

Check your vents. Try getting blowing some air through the vents to blow out anything that might have lodged inside.

Max temps on my R2 while gaming: 86CPU and 75GPU
This is on my new motherboard, the old one used to run cooler at 83 max temp on CPU.
Don't worry those temps are perfectly fine o.o
About the power adapter, it gets hot when you are gaming and it gets even hotter when you are gaming and charging your battery, but on normal use it doesn't get hot at all.
